Maintenance Tips
Ceramics are one of the easiest tiles to clean. We advise you to always consult the packaging and manual of the product purchased and remember that there are particularities depending on the surface finish of the ceramic tile.
Clean water is often all that is needed to clean your tile. If you feel you must use some product, use a neutral cleaner made specifically for grout or tile or a mildly alkaline detergent.
Never drip the cleaning product directly on the floor, some products can present chemical attack and be marked exactly with the drip marks, it is recommended that the product be diluted and applied on a cloth.
Always rinse with clean water after cleaning to remove any residue. Any residual cleaner, soap or detergent should be removed to prevent the ceramic from becoming dull and susceptible to quicker soiling.
The use of stronger alkaline products and or hydrofluoric acids is not recommended. Normally the tiles resist, but the grouting does not. The entire system of the ceramic tile is compromised and begins to require maintenance ahead of time or it can generate infiltration problems, dirt accumulation, bacteria.
Products commonly known as "stone cleaners" have hydrofluoric acid, which when reacting with the Silica (present in the structure of the tiles) does not clean, but leaves the tiles more porous, with a false impression of efficient heavy cleaning, but with time will impregnate the dirt even more.
