Porcelain tiles, stoneware, semi-stoneware and monoporous, discover the difference between each of these tiles.

Porcelain tiles

Porcelain tiles have low water absorption(up to 0.5%). It is a highly resistant coating with specific characteristics, especially in terms of the production process.

Its production uses noble raw materials and high temperatures, with firing at over 1,200ºC to make the mass. The result is a homogeneous, compact and vitrified ceramic. Due to its high resistance, it can be used indoors and outdoors, dry or wet, on floors and walls.

Stoneware

Stoneware has a water absorption rate of between 0.5% and 3%. It is also very resistant to mechanical impacts, thermal shocks and even frost. It's a great option for those looking for a resistant and versatile product.

Ceramics (SEMI GRES AND BIIB)

Semi stoneware ceramics have a water absorption of between 3% and 6%, while BIIB ceramics have an absorption of between 6% and 10%. As a general rule, the higher the water absorption, the greater the porosity of the material. Because of its greater porosity, it is suitable for environments that do not require a great deal of support from physical impacts.

Monoporous

Monoporous has a water absorption rate of over 10%. Due to its high porosity and consequently lower mechanical and thermal shock resistance, monoporosa is only suitable for application to walls.
