Where to apply slip-resistant coatings?
If you are renovating or building, understanding where to apply slip-resistant coatings makes all the difference when it comes to ensuring safer and more comfortable environments for your day-to-day life.

Have you ever noticed that some floors have more "grip" than others? That's not by chance! Some ceramic tiles are specially made to offer more safety, especially in areas where water or other elements can leave the floor feeling slippery.
If you are renovating or building, understanding where to apply slip-resistant coatings makes all the difference when it comes to ensuring safer and more comfortable environments for your day-to-day life.
But what is slip resistance anyway?

This is the coating's ability to offer more grip when walking - in other words, to reduce the risk of slipping. This is measured by something called the coefficient of friction, and the higher this number, the safer the floor is in terms of slipping.
But it's worth remembering: the safety of an environment doesn't just depend on the floor you choose. Other factors such as the presence of water, soap, sand, grease, the type of footwear or even the slope of the floor also have a major influence.
Where to use slip-resistant coatings?

Wet areas
These are environments that have frequent contact with water and can even form puddles:
- Bathrooms with shower;
- Service areas;
- Uncovered backyards and balconies;
- Spaces around the pool.
In these cases, the ideal is to opt for coatings with a high slip resistance, with a rougher textured finish (such as EXT - external).
Wet areas
These spaces even receive splashes of water, but they do not accumulate or form sheets. Examples:
- Washrooms
- Kitchens
- Covered balconies
- Bathrooms without showers
Here, you can choose a coating with moderate resistance, as long as it is safe for everyday use. A satin finish (AC) usually works very well.
Dry areas
These environments, under normal conditions, do not have direct contact with water. For example:
- Bedrooms
- Rooms
- Corridors
- Offices
In these areas, there is no need for coatings with high slip resistance. You can opt for finishes such as polished (PO) or glossy (BR), which have a smoother feel and are easy to clean.
Practical tip: always follow the directions for use!

Elizabeth coatings already come with an indication of where they can be safely applied, according to their coefficient of friction and finish. If in doubt, just look for the recommended use on the packaging or talk to a specialist.
Safety and beauty at the same time

Choosing the right flooring isn't just a question of aesthetics - it's also a matter of taking care of the well-being of your family and everyone in the room. So before you buy, think: does this area get wet? Is there a risk of slipping? Will there be heavy traffic?
This guarantees a beautiful, safe and long-lasting project.
